Nike Sportswear are set to take inspiration from the Far East in their new AFE Collection.

Withdrawn from the Western world, the past 50 years have seen a cultural revolution take place in Japan. The nation has taken on board new influences, mixing them in a bright, vivid and unmistakable style.

Launched their new AFE Collection, Nike have sought inspiration from the Far East. An intrinsic part of Nike Sportswear, Athletics West was introduced back in 1977 and has established itself as a breeding ground for design talent.

Mixing a concern for the needs of athletes with a probing eye for fashion trends, Athletics West has grown into a ground breaking part of the Nike aesthetic. Always keen to break new ground, last year the sportswear firm launched Athletics East.

Now Nike has returned with Athletics Far East. In keeping with Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman’s love of trail running, the theme is inspired by the outdoors and the collection reflects and adjusts to these conditions.

Taking its cue from classic Nike designs, Athletics Far East fuses this with new fashion developments. The entire range is designed to be worn outdoors, and has definitive levels of protection, reinforcement and ventilation whenever necessary.

As always, Nike leaves space for the athlete to find their individual style. For example, detachable sleeves on the Sportsman Down Jacket and unique adjustments on the Athletic Hoody allow for extra individuality.

The NSW Athletics Far East collection launches on September 25th. Watch an introductory video below…
