Iconic sportswear company Nike have launched a new GPS app which connects to a global community.
Running is often a lonely pursuit. Unlike team sports, long distance runners have no one to cheer them on, offering words of encouragement when the pains and twinges of the race become too much.
All that could change however, with the new Nike+ GPS app. A new digital training tool for athletes, the new download changes the average iPhone into a tool to visually map every run you embark on.
As well as this, the new Nike+ GPS app is designed to operate seamlessly between GPS and an accelerometer. Alongside these function the user will find data on tracking pace, distance, time and calories-burned as well as motivational feedback.
Athletes such as Paula Radcliffe and Lance Armstrong have taken part in the new app, with comedian Tracy Morgan also on hand to offer encouragement.
Easy to download, the new Nike+ GPS app can be used anywhere in the world. As a result, the community aspect of the program allows athletes across the globe to interact via NikePlus – the largest running community on the web.
“We are so excited to introduce the true “Runner’s App,” for iPhone combining the dynamic power and community of Nike+ with the user-friendly functionality of GPS and accelerometry,” said Nike Digital’s Stefan Olander.
“We will continue to evolve the digital options we provide to runners so that their running experience is always unique and inspired.”
