Influential electronic imprint Night Slugs is set to toast its 10th birthday later this year.
Where does the time go, eh? Night Slugs has grown to become an internationally renowned label, working with the likes of Kingdom, Kelela, Flirta D, Girl Unit, and many more.
Celebrating its 10th birthday, the label is set to release new compilation 'Night Slugs Allstars X' later this year, collecting some of their finest moments.
Alongside this, Night Slugs are also piecing together a compilation based on their sought after white label series, with many of those cuts no longer available on physical formats.
As if that wasn't enough, the crew are also plotting live events, workshops, and more. Night Slugs founder Bok Bok explains:
“It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years! It’s been both a crazy ride with many battles, but also feels like a moment, a singular flash, because our intentions really haven’t changed much from the start.”
“What started as a DIY club night in Camberwell grew into a decade-spanning story involving multiple continents and a varying cast of artists – some arrived more recently and others have moved on. Many things change in a decade and as 2018 finds everyone in quite different places to where we were at the start of NS, there’s a core family ethos in London and beyond that still binds us to this day.”
“Today we look at an almost entirely different club environment to when we had our humble beginnings in ’08 throwing raves at The Redstar in Camberwell, when things around us felt much more closed. Today the club is wide open. We set out to carve out a niche for a new approach to DJing, and eventually a new approach to production. I feel proud that we played some part in blowing the ceiling off what was possible in club music.”
