Night Beats return with new single ‘Behind The Green Door’.
The long-running project moves between 60s R&B grooves and raucous garage freak-outs, all combined by a passion for lysergic psych lucidity. Working with long-time home Fuzz Club, Night Beats – helmed by Danny Lee Blackwell – have just shared something new.
Out now digitally, ‘Behind The Green Door’ draws together the multiple strands of the project’s sonic tapestry. The clipped back-strokes are R&B heaven, while the trippy atmosphere is sheer Sunset Strip ’67.
A limited vinyl 45 lands on April 11th, but an eye-catchingly surreal Giallo-indebted music video is out now.
Danny Lee Blackwell comments…
The song started as a lone star instrumental, something I pieced together in my studio in 2024. I imagined dusty roads and dimly lit dance halls. I wanted the guitars to shimmer like heat waves on an open road. The rhythm to pull like footsteps across a wooden floor, soaked in smoke and neon.
The lyrics followed, drawn from past and present—unwavering love, transcendence. The ‘green door’ is that threshold between devotion and disillusionment. The story lives not just in the words, but in the tones and textures, if uncovered.
Tune in now.
