Nick Cave Working With Bad Seeds

New album due next year

Nick Cave has revealed that he is set to reconvene with The Bad Seeds next year.

Nick Cave is a true Renaissance man. 2010 has seen the Australian songwriter release his long awaited new novel, battle for film rights and accept an honorary degree from the University Of Dundee.

In between this, Nick Cave has completed the second Grinderman album which is every bit as virile as the first. However The Bad Seeds remain the singer’s first love, and a new album is on the horizon.

Taking a back seat to his soundtrack work, Nick Cave has decided to reconvene with The Bad Seeds. Fans shouldn’t expect a new album soon, though, with no new material have been written by the group.

“There will be a new Bad Seeds record next year,” he told SpinnerMusic. “I’ve got to write one, I haven’t written anything yet, but that’s not how I go about things anyway.”

“I have the starting date for the next record and that’s when I go into the office and start it,” he continued. “I’m not doing that until I’ve finished the Grinderman tour, which is amazing. The band is something else.”

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds last released a new album in 2008, with the Bibically inspired album ‘Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!’. Since then, Nick Cave has dedicated his time to the Grinderman project.

“After we finished the first one (Grinderman album) and saw the response to it and saw the rejuvenating effect it had on the Bad Seeds, it made sense to continue” he explained. “It’s like having a mistress: It has the ability to reinvigorate the Bad Seeds or destroy the Bad Seeds. I think it’s put a spark of life back into the relationship.”

‘Grinderman 2’ was released this summer, with the band currently completing a North American tour.

Recently returning to the UK, Grinderman’s new single ‘Worm Tamer’ was released on Monday (November 22nd).
