Nick Cave has asked fans to send him their lockdown footage for a new film.
The ever-industrious Australian songwriter is in the throes of another busy spell, recently sharing his project ‘Seven Psalms’ in full. A series of short pieces connected as one unified meditation, the words were then sculpted into music by Nick Cave and co-conspirator Warren Ellis.
Out now digitally and on limited 10 inch vinyl, ‘Seven Psalms’ will be connected by a short film, utilising footage shot by fans.
The project has just launched with Nick Cave inviting followers to send him pieces of short footage – no more than two minutes in length – shot during lockdown. The footage can range from selfies to something slightly longer, moving between “the sacred and the profane” as the press note details.
Please share your clips to [email protected] in landscape, 720p MP4. Please only send footage that belongs to you and that you (and everyone in it) are happy to be edited and shared online. Deadline 26th July.
Nick Cave comments: “While in lockdown I wrote a number of psalms, or small, sacred songs—one a day for a week. The seven psalms are presented as one long meditation—on faith, rage, love, grief, mercy, sex and praise. A veiled, contemplative offering borne of an uncertain time. I hope you like it.”
Nick Cave has been the subject of a number of films of late, the most recent being 2021’s This Much I Know To Be True.
