Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are gearing up to release their new single “Midnight Man” on July 28th, it has been announced.
The iconic frontman has led his merry band of Bad Seeds for over twenty years now, yet shows no sign of slowing. The new single is taken from their latest album “DIG, LAZURUS, DIG!!!” which was widely acclaimed by critics. The single will be available with some exclusive new material including the non-album track “Hey Little Firing Squad” as well as demo versions of “More New From Nowhere” and “Dig, Lazurus, Dig!”.
The single release comes alongside the news that digital channel BBC4 are set to host a night of programming devoted to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. A dense and confusing song, Nick Cave explained the themes of “Midnight Man” by saying:
“It takes various points of view and it’s got an unreliable narrator speaking in it and it time travels. It’s basically a guy looking at his woman and half of the time he’s the protector and at other times he’s the villain and she betrays him and doesn’t betray and he’s jealous and not jealous.”
That clears that up, then.
“Midnight Man” by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will be available from July 28th.
