Australian songwriter turned novelist Nick Cave has surprised fans by releasing his new book as an iPhone application.
Nick Cave is one of the most respected songwriters on the planet. A recent book collecting his lyrics received rave reviews, with many commenting on the depth and obvious literary background of his writing.
Taking a break from working with The Bad Seeds and Grinderman, Nick Cave recently completed his second novel. ‘The Death Of Bunny Munro’ is eagerly anticipated by fans, who have only been granted a glimpse of the book so far.
Due for release later this year, ‘The Death Of Bunny Munro’ is due to be made available as a iTunes download. In addition to Cave reading the novel the singer has crafted a soundtrack for the novel.
Working with long term cohort Warren Ellis the Australian musician has crafted a special soundtrack to compliment the narrative. In addition to this, Nick Cave has now announced details of a special iPhone application.
In addition to receiving the audiobook and soundtrack those who download the new app will receive an enhanced e-book and videos of Cave reading ‘The Death Of Bunny Munro’.
The new material was produced in collaboration with artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.
“The fact that the reader can choose his or her own experience is interesting because the true meaning of a book lies in the reader’s own interpretation and the circumstances of that interpretation,” said Nick Cave in a statement.
In turn, Forsyth and Pollard recalled that the project offers a 3D listening experience. “We’ve not heard anything like this before – the result sits somewhere between a film soundtrack, a radio play and an hallucination.”
‘The Death Of Bunny Munro’ app is exclusively available to iPhone and iPod Touch users right now. The hardback version of the book is published on September 9th.
