Nia Smith’s ‘Give Up The Fear’ Is Wonderful

A piece of soulful innocence...

London riser Nia Smith has shared new single ‘Give Up The Fear’.

The song was constructed alongside Jimmy Napes, a hugely revered producer and musician in his own right. What comes to the fore, however, is Nia Smith’s own talents, her charms amplified by the team around her.

Out now, ‘Give Up The Fear’ is a fine introduction, the soulful allure pointing to a love for vintage R&B, while twisting this in a fresh direction. As a song, it’s utterly true to herself – the lyrics contain a search for innocence, an attempt to rediscover a feeling of purity in your life.

The video was directed by UK film-maker LOOSE, and features Nia on her bike, cycling around Windrush Square in Brixton – with Brixton’s landmark Ritzy cinema behind her.

Nia Smith explains…

[It’s] about finding that inner-child again… you know how when you’re a kid you don’t overthink or second-guess creativity? I would watch my little brother paint when he wants to paint, draw when he wants to draw, while I second-guess what I want to do…”
