New York Dolls Live DVD Due

'Lookin' Fine On Television'

A new DVD featuring rare archive footage of New York Dolls is to be released on November 22nd.

Arriving on a rock scene dominated by the excess of prog, New York Dolls caused widespread shock and alarm. The band’s Todd Rundgren produced debut album matched debauched Stones riffery with yob choruses, helping to inspire the visual and sonic template for punk years before ‘Anarchy In The UK’.

Continually on the verge of splitting up, New York Dolls were a fleeting, frustrating entity. Now a new DVD brings together rare archive footage which captures the band in all their preening pomp.

‘Lookin’ Fine On Television’ is set to be released on November 22nd and draws extensively on the archives of Bob Gruen. The rock photographer owned a portable camera, and became drawn into the group’s orbit as the 70s progressed.

Shooting more than 40 hours of footage, the performances have previously been edited into the documentary ‘All Dolled Up’. Now extra footage has been added to created fifteen live music video-style clips.

Focussing on their influential debut album, ‘Lookin’ Fine On Television’ contains some never seen before clips. Opening and closing with ‘Jet Boy’ fan favourites such as ‘Trash’ and ‘Lookin For A Kiss’ are represented alongside numerous rarities.

A rare chance to gaze at New York Dolls during their peak, the upcoming DVD also includes a 1976 Lisa Robinson interview with David Johansen and Johnny Thunders.
