Legendary alt rock group Shellac are preparing to release a new studio album.
Shellac are one of American rock's most sought after entities. Led by Steve Albini, the band's back catalogue is littered with smashed skulls, empowered rants and no end of dirty, dirty riffery.
Releasing new material as and when they damn well please, some had feared that Shellac were over as a recording entity. Well, shelve those doubts as Steve Albini recently confirmed that the band's fifth studio album – their first in six years – will be released shortly.
Speaking to the AV Club, Albini stated that the record will have eight or nine songs, and that the material was constructed during the past seven years.
As yet, it's uncertain if the album will be released via the band's long term – and since shuttered – home, Tough & Go Records.
