School Of Seven Bells are set to release their new album ‘Ghostory’ on February 27th.
For any band, losing a member is a big blow. However for School Of Seven Bells, Alejandra Deheza had to cope with not only losing her band mate but her twin sister.
Now slimmed down to a duo, School Of Seven Bells announced their intention to record new material without Claudia Deheza earlier this year. Focusing on a new album, the Brooklyn duo have apparently completed something which is both spontaneous and narrative based.
The material for ‘Ghostory’ follows a girl called Lafeye and the ghosts that haunt her. “Everyone has ghosts”, said Alejandra Deheza; “They’re every love you’ve ever had, every hurt, every betrayal, every heartbreak. They follow you, stay with you.”
Revealing the news via their Facebook feed, School Of Seven Bells underlined the collaborative process behind the album. “Ghostory is our most collaborative music to date,” said Benjamin Curtis.
“Alley (Alejandra) and I have always written our music together, but always independently and on our own time. We knew we wanted to do something that was more sensual and spontaneous than anything we had ever done before, and that meant writing together in a room, coming up with ideas quickly and immediately reacting to what the other person was doing.”
Set to be released in February, the tracklisting for ‘Ghoststory’ contains more clues as to what fans can expect. Opening with ‘The Night’ the album focusses on love – ‘Love Play’, ‘Show Me Love’ – before ending with ‘When You Sing’.
