Thrill Jockey have announced that OOIOO’s sixth album, ‘Armonico Hewa’ will be released in late October.
The title is explained by the band as meaning, ‘air in a harmonious state’ and is a combination of the Spanish word ‘armonico’ and the Swahili word ‘hewa’.
The all female band started as an imaginary group in a magazine feature before The Boredoms drummer, and OOIOO lynchpin, Yoshimi P-we took the newly assembled band on the road in support of Sonic Youth, kickstarting a now very real, side project.
