Joe Goddard has revealed that Hot Chip have reached the finishing stages of their new album.
Joe Goddard could well be the busiest man in British dance music. As well as helping to run the always-essential Greco-Roman imprint, the producer is one half of The 2 Bears as well as maintaining a solo career.
Oh, and he’s also in Hot Chip.
The band have been silent of late, although rumours have been circulating about a potential new album. Speaking to NME, Joe Goddard revealed that the record is now at the final mixing stage.
Continuing, the producer said the album will “probably be out around June, but it’s not absolutely decided yet. It basically sounds like Hot Chip, we haven’t done anything particularly weird”.
Intriguingly, the album was apparently made on a mixing desk once owned by Conny Plank – a German producer who worked with Kraftwerk, Neu and more. “The guy we’ve been working with shipped it over from Germany, where it was rotting, didn’t work at all. He spent £10, 000 doing it up and we recorded it on that desk” he said.
“It’s a beautiful thing. That’s what brought everything together for this new record. It’s a continuation of our love affair with different kinds of dance music.”
So: see you in June, then.
Joe Goddard recently remixed Nigerian-German singer Nneka‘s ‘Shining Star’ – stream it below in all its eight minute, shuffling, evolving glory.
