New Factory Floor Single Due

'Two Different Ways' set for release

Factory Floor are set to release their new single ‘Two Different Ways’ on November 14th.

Dance music is a helluva broad term. Take Factory Floor: the London group clearly have an interest in electronics, but there are also occasional traces of Wire in their music. Ever tried dancing to Wire? It can be tricky…

Currently working on new material, the London group recently performed at Manchester’s Warehouse Project. Appearing at a night curated by The Horrors, Factory Floor dropped in a few new cuts alongside some familiar material.

Now the trio have confirmed plans to release a new 12 inch. Hooking up with DFA, ‘Two Different Ways’ is – appropriately enough – one of the more up front electronic cuts from their collection.

Opening with some pared down synth arpeggios, the main cut sits somewhere between the band’s cold, harsh industrial sound and the sci-fi landscapes of Detroit in 1984. Nik Colk’s alienated vocals sit on top – barely human, her singing is rendered more machine yet curiously more emotive.

‘Two Different Ways’ comes with a flipside. The alternate track on the 12 inch takes its cue from New Order and the Manchester band’s pared down take on New York’s early 80s electronic scene.

Largely instrumental, the B-side falls into the traditional ‘dance cut’ area – the ‘Thieves Like Us’ to ‘Blue Monday’.

Factory Floor are set to release ‘Two Different Ways’ on November 14th. The track is available on 12 inch and digital download.

Meanwhile, the London trio have confirmed the following show:
