Neon Neon, the acclaimed project featuring Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip, may not make another album eccentric Welshman Rhys has claimed in a new interview.
The band released a concept album on the life of playboy engineer John DeLorean, which was praised as a work of rare originality. ‘Stainless Style’ went on to be nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, where it was beaten by Elbow.
In a new interview with BBC Newsbeat, Gurff Rhys admitted he was not sure whether he would record under the Neon Neon moniker again.
“I don’t know about making another Neon Neon album because it was quite a specific record about (John) DeLorean’s life story,” Rhys explained. “If we did something in the future it would have to be something different. But it’s nice that it did well and we get to play it live.”
