Nell Mescal has shared her new single ‘In My Head’.
Out now on LAB Records, it opens a huge year for the Irish songwriter. While her opening salvo of singles were painted in indie-folk hues, ‘In My Head’ is a little more direct, and a little more pop in its approach.
Lyrically, Nell knows how to pull our heartstrings – she’s discussing love-lost, and the inability to move on from the past. Ultra-revealing, it’s backed by a surging vocal that leads to that defiant chorus.
“‘In My Head’ is a song about searching for a love you had in the past, a feeling you’re never sure you’ll find again so you seek comfort in relationships that are emotionally draining and one sided,” explains Nell.
“It’s about thinking that it must always be your fault and eventually leading to resentment towards the other person. We all have that person we look back on and miss, this track captures the moment they slip into your head…”
The video was directed by close collaborator Dora Paphides, and continues Nell Mescal’s rise.
Catch Nell supporting Birdy at some huge UK dates this Spring, alongside sets at Dot To Dot Festival, and The Great Escape.
