Neil Young is set to piece together a new box set focussing on his annual concerts in aid of the Bridge School.
Set up some 25 years ago, the Bridge School was an attempt by Neil Young to improve the standards of education for children with special needs. Inspired by the demands of his own son, the school has own numerous awards, breaking new ground in the process.
Each year, Neil Young hosts a fund raiser at the school itself. Begun back in 1986, the annual concerts began with a stripped back performance from Bruce Springsteen – then at the absolute peak of his stadium slaying fame.
This year, Neil Young is set to host a one off show featuring performances from Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, Eddie Vedder, Mumford & Sons and more.
Tickets are always scarce, with bootlegs from the shows reaching a cult following amongst Neil Young fans. Now the singer has confirmed plans to release an official box set focussing on the concerts.
‘The Bridge School Concerts’ will be released on October 24th, with the box set comprising of three DVDs and two audio CDs. Opening with a cut from The Boss himself, other performances include tracks from Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Pearl Jam and more.
