On the eve of eagerly anticipated new album “Accelerate”, American giants R.E.M. have announced a series of British stadium shows.
The band have been hard at work in the studio, with “Accelerate” said to have a rock edge, much in common with 1994’s “Monster” album.
Before the stadium shows the band have the small matter of a concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Featuring an all-star support including Foals, The Duke Spirit and cult singer / songwriter Robyn Hitchcock. R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck is a noted admirer of Hitchcock’s first band The Soft Boys.
R.E.M. will play the following dates:
March 24th – Royal Albert Hall, London
August 24th – Manchester, Lancashire Country Cricket Club
August 25th – Cardiff, Millenium Stadium
August 27th – Southampton, Rosebowl
August 30th – Twickenham, Twickenham Stadium
