Precocious young knob twiddler Nathan Fake is set to return with new album ‘Hard Islands’.
Hailing from Norfolk, this electronic guru began life as a shy and retiring nineteen year old working on dancefloor bangers in his bedroom. In your face acidic techno, Fake’s beats come from somewhere deeply original yet are capable of uniting a crowd in ecstatic abandon.
Debut album ‘Drowning In A Sea Of Love’ was released to acclaim in 2006, defining Fake’s sound as that of casio keyboard riffs clattering over skittering acidic rhythms.
Forthcoming album ‘Hard Islands’ is another chapter in Nathan Fake’s career. Reminiscent of Rephlex icons Aphex Twin and Clark, it mixes dancefloor bangers with musical experimentation.
In a statement the producer says that “playing live a lot over the last couple of years has had a profound influence on the way I make music now”, and this seeps through on ‘Hard Islands’.
Recent support slots for Squarepusher and Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid have seen Nathan Fake exposed to new audiences and new ideas, making ‘Hard Islands’ perhaps his most accomplished effort yet.
Nathan Fake is set to release his new album ‘Hard Islands’ on May 18th.
