Nastiya Kai Opens Up A New Chapter with ‘Bury Me’

The singer-songwriter gears up towards her debut album...

Nastiya Kai has returned with her latest single, ‘Bury Me’.

Drawn towards folk-tinged acoustics and ambient undertones, the track ventures into the darker realms of electronic music. Exploring themes of misplaced remorse and accountability, Kai charges her lyrics with piercing honesty, creating an intimate space between herself and the listener. As the self-taught singer-songwriter experiments with different pulses, she leaves space for moments of stripped-back instrumentation, spotlighting her crystal vocals throughout.

In conversation, the artist reveals the deeper sentiments behind the release: “‘Bury Me’ is about blaming yourself for all the horrible things someone else is responsible for. When someone is clearly out there to hurt you but you keep asking yourself if there’s anything you did wrong and what can you do to fix it even when you’re already underground as it is. I built it in a way where it takes you through this emotional rollercoaster. It starts off as a ballad, then evolves into a country-inspired chorus only to build up into a major electronic drop by the end.”

Travelling between Moscow, Paris, LA and New York, Nastiya Kai hones a universal approach to her craft. A sound shaped by the likes of David Bowie, Crystal Castles, The Prodigy and Bob Dylan, the artist offers a more fluid outlook on genre, piecing together a unique experience with each release.

Now gearing up towards her debut album, it’s bold moments like ‘Bury Me’ that define Nastiya Kai’s next steps, expanding her crowds along the way.

Tune in now.
