Nakhane has shared new song ‘Standing In Our Way’.
The South African artist is now firmly rooted in London, a city they have come to use as a creative base. A fantastic vocalist, new album ‘Bastard Jargon’ is out on March 31st, and it’s another intensely personal document from this multi-faceted artist.
Dubbed an “existential sex album”, the record is trailed by this vivid new single. ‘Standing In Our Way’ is in part a classic soul song, with Nakhane’s exquisite voice putting you in mind of Marvin, or modern day troubadours such as D’Angelo. It’s such a potent, intimate song however, that it transcends this, and becomes truly their own.
Lyrically, ‘Standing In Our Way’ is about claiming intention, and removing obstacles from your life. Nakhane comments…
