Eel Pie Island indie mavericks Mystery Jets are preparing to release their new album ‘Serotonin’ on July 5th.
Mystery Jets are survivors. Returning with their sweeping vision of 80s pop, ‘Twenty One’ contained some fantastic songwriting and introduced the band to a new audience.
However it was all too little too late for label 679, who ditched the band last year. Revered indie imprint Rough Trade snapped the group up within seconds, with Mystery Jets joining a roster which includes some genuine musical legends.
Beginning work on their third album, Mystery Jets have recently given new material its live debut. Performing at Glasgow’s Hinterland Festival, the band’s latest efforts include some of their strongest to date.
With sources close to the band suggesting that third album ‘Serotonin’ could be their finest yet, hopes are high around the release. Produced by Chris Thomas – who worked with The Beatles and Pink Floyd – ‘Serotonin’ will contain eleven songs.
Recording took place at British Grove Studios, with singer Blaine Harrison’s father Henry Harrison taking part in the songwriting process. Harrison Snr is not, however, set to accompany the band on tour.
“We’ve got out hands in the mud,” Henry Harrison said in a statement. “That’s what I feel about this album. You take your hands out and if they’re covered in mud, you say, that’s alright. That’s the kind of feeling we want.”
Mystery Jets are set to tour through the summer, with the Eel Pie Island mavericks planning to unveil new material at festivals across the country.
