My Latest Novel Return

Orchestral Scots release 2nd album

Glasgow’s epic rockers My Latest Novel are due to release their second album ‘Deaths And Entrances’ on May 18th.

Blending assured songwriting with a widescreen vision of rock music, My Latest Novel caused a stir with their debut album ‘Wolves’. A word of mouth success, it slipped out with very little press attention yet went on to sell over 10,000 copies.

A remarkable group, My Latest Novel are now due to return with their long awaited second album. Their first long player in three years, ‘Deaths And Entrances’ finds the band in confident form.

Heavily inspired by literature, the group cite Alasdair Gray’s seminal book ‘Lanark’ as a key text. My Latest Novel’s Gary Deveny claims that “Deaths and Entrances was a title before it was an album – and a poem before it was a title… By Dylan Thomas… We loved how vast it was, and it seemed to sum up exactly what we wanted to do next.”

“It gave us something to aim for. We wanted to “pull the thunderbolts, shut the sun, plunge, and mount our darkened keys”.

The songwriter explains that the upcoming album was very much a group effort. “We wrote a lot of the songs on the album at the same time, rather than one at a time. I think this makes it sound much more cohesive. It sounds like a band at a certain point in time.”

“You end up developing your own language as a band; all these ideas were swirling around in our heads and in our room… and it feels spontaneous.”
