My Bloody Valentine Debut New Song

'Rough Song' opens Brixton set

My Bloody Valentine opened their set in Brixton Electric with a new track, seemingly titled 'Rough Song'.

Ah, the lengthy, tortured tale of My Bloody Valentine's new studio album. The band posted a message on Facebook before Christmas, indicating that work on new material was at an end.

Writing to fans, the band said: "On 21-12-12 we finished mastering the new album!" Since then, though, nothing new has arrived.

Last night in London fans gathered for a one off show at Brixton Electric, and to their delight My Bloody Valentine opened with a previously unheard track labelled 'Rough Song' on the set list handed to sound engineers.

As the title suggests, it appeared to be a work in progress – nonetheless, exciting times for fans of My Bloody Valentine. Find a – rather rough around the edges – clip below. (via Consequence of Sound)

Oh, and while you're here… Kevin Shields also mentioned something about the new album dropping in "two or three days time". Statement of intent or outright prank? Only time will tell…
