Epic English three piece rockers Muse has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts by the University of Plymouth, it has been announced.
The band hail from nearby Teignmouth – the one time home of poet John Keats, fact fans – and returned to Devon to collect their awards last week (September 25th).
Band members Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dom Howard dressed in the traditional gowns and hats to receive their degrees, although it is not known how Bellamy got the hat to stay on his head, what with his spiky locks and all.
Muse sat with student graduates throughout the ceremony, and were awarded alongside those whose achievements were based on academic endeavor.
Speaking about the presentation to The Herald Muse frontman Matt Bellamy said “I’m pretty sure we’re not worthy.”
“It’s nice to be part of something down here in the West Country. We never went to university so it really means a lot to us.”
