In a strange new twist it seems that Fox News presenter Glenn Beck invented a supposed ‘row’ with Muse.
After almost a decade of hard work, it seems that Muse have finally become as massive as their music. Epic in size and ambition, the band’s new album ‘The Resistance’ is a huge artistic triumph.
Topping charts across the world, ‘The Resistance’ eventually hit the top spot in a total of thirteen countries. Reaching number three on the Billboard charts, Muse are becoming household names in the United States.
Which could be why Glenn Beck decided to ‘fall out’ with them. Or not, as the case may be.
Yesterday (October 7th) ClashMusic reported that Muse had crossed swords with the conservative personality. Known for his right wing views, Beck is currently under fire in the United States for labelling Barack Obama a “racist”.
Recently the presenter endorsed Muse, claiming that they shared his ‘libertarian’ views. Speaking on his radio show Glenn Beck told listeners to go out and buy their album, before repeating his praise on Twitter.
Later, however, Beck claimed that Muse had been infuriated by his adoption of them. Jokingly retracting his comments, the ‘row’ prompted speculation on both sides of the Atlantic.
In a new twist it seems as if the entire affair may have only existed in Glenn Beck’s head. Christopher Balfe, the president and COO of Beck’s company Mercury Radio Arts told MTV that the whole thing had been a ruse.
“After raving about Muse for four minutes, Glenn made a joke about their representatives emailing him to stop,” Balfe said. “While it is entirely possible that Muse does not like having Glenn as a fan, he was making a joke and their representatives never reached out to him.”
Muse have staunchly refused to comment on the issue.
