Muse will soundtrack the Olympic Games after their new track ‘Survival’ was picked as the event’s official song.
Well, they’re almost here. After nearly a decade of planning, hype and speculation the Olympic Games will open in London next month, sparking an enormous influx of world press.
Clearly, all eyes are on the capital and the Olympic committee need a theme song to cope with the magnitude of the occasion. Muse have stepped in, with their new track ‘Survival’ being chosen as the theme song for this summer’s games.
The track will gain its world première on Radio 1 tonight (June 27th) and will be available to download from iTunes after 8pm.
‘Survival’ will be played throughout sports sessions in all London 2012 venues during the entire Games. Muse singer Matt Bellamy commented: “It’s a huge honour to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games. I wrote it with the Games in mind as it expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win”.
Will their new found dubstep direction go down well with the Olympic crowds though? Time will tell…
