Munro Embraces New Alias With Single ’About You’

The New Zealand producer takes his own spin on UK Garage…

munro is embarking on a new venture with pulsing single ‘About You’.

The Auckland producer now finds himself experimenting with the like of UK Garage and Indie Pop under a new alias, drawing inspiration from Fred Again…, Four Tet and Lapalux.

Released via Quality Goods Records, the track takes a less is more approach in its minimal yet transcending production qualities. Embracing glacial vocals that explore the shifting dynamics of relationships, munro chops and warps them into an evocative 2-step hook.

‘About You’ follows the release of ‘Better Not Knowing’ and ‘Every Day (Is Always The Same)’ which similarly tap into a downtempo area of electronic music, catering for both dance floors and the more casual, day to day listener. Having spent a considerable time writing music for others, the producer is now re-focussing on his own craft, stretching across into new directions and genres.

Praised by the likes of Diplo, Skrillex, Hardwell and RL Grime, ‘About You’ marks a turning poiint for an artist on the rise.

He comments:

“There’s a really bold, assertiveness in the vocals that just floors me, and it really set the scene for the writing process. It doesn’t feel as hopelessly melancholic as, I guess I typically lean into, but it still maintains a level of, albeit, sobering sadness to it”.

Tune in now…
