Mumm Ra To Split

Band Not So 'Ever Living'

Mumm Ra, the Sussex indie group who scored a top 40 hit with their single “What Would Steve Do?”, have announced that they are to split.

The group rose to prominence on the back of self released EPs such as “The Dance In France”. Whilst not the best-selling band in the world, Mumm Ra were well regarded by their peers and toured with such groups as Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers.

Mumm Ra take their name from a villain in 80s kids cartoon Thundercats, with the name also meaning ‘ever living’. The name is now sadly ironic, with the band issuing the following statement on their myspace page:

“After seven years, 11 months and 21 days of writing and playing music together us Mumm-Ra boys have decided our journey as a band has come to an end.”

“It has without doubt been the most fantastic adventure any of us could possibly have imagined all those years ago, when the rather naive idea to form a band sprang from our young minds and led us to the nearest practise room.”
