Mumford & Sons have rocketed to the top of the American charts with new album 'Babel'.
If you're not a fan of Mumford & Sons then it's probably time to lie in a dark room. The band recently notched up the British number one album slot, with 'Babel' recording enormous first week sales. Now the band have repeated that feat in the United States, with their album soaring to the top of the Billboard charts.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, 'Babel' sold more than 600,000 copies in its first week of release – almost double that of Justin Bieber's recent album 'Believe' which sold more than 374,000 on its release earlier this year. The results are pretty spectacular.
To put things in perspective, Mumford & Sons' 'Babel' is the top selling Modern Rock album* in 2012 and is the fast selling release in this category since AC/DC's 2008 full length 'Black Ice'.
Alongside this, Mumford & Sons have confirmed an extra night at the O2 Arena. Part of their vast British tour, each and every date sold out within a few hours of going on sale. Adding a second London show, details are as follows:
