Mumford & Sons Single News

New etched vinyl release due

Breezy indie-folk group Mumford & Sons are due to release a new limited edition single titled ‘The Cave And The Open Sea’.

Coming to prominence as the backing band of one Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons craft a similarly sea worn blend of lilting folk. The group earned a cult following with their shrewd songcraft before putting pen to paper with indie gurus Chess Club.

Mumford & Sons began life busking in the streets, and those hours of practice have come to fruition with the group’s current series of EPs.

All come etched with weird and wonderful designs, beginning with ‘Lend Me Your Eyes’ in July 2008. A red hot set at Glastonbury followed, and with momentum building behind them the group released the single ‘Love Your Ground’.

The band toured in support of the release, noticing fresh faces at every venue they played. Mumford & Sons began the year playing a massive tour that took in every nook and cranny of the UK. From Stornoway to Canterbury the group waltzed their way into the hearts of countless music fans.

The forthcoming EP completes the first chapter in the band’s story, ending their initial trilogy of releases but pointing to exciting future directions. With much more planned in 2009, Mumford & Sons are definitely ones to watch.

Mumford & Sons are set to release their new EP ‘The Cave And The Open Sea’ on April 6th.
