Mumford & Sons have seemingly confirmed that their second album will be released in September.
‘Sigh No More’ has been an unavoidable, inescapable soundtrack for day-to-day life for almost three years now. Enormously, almost absurdly successful Mumford & Sons have taken their music around the globe.
Now it seems that a follow up release is – finally – due. The band have been recording new material, and during a show in the Netherlands recently appeared to indicate that an Autumn release was on the cards.
Playing at the Pinkpop festival, Mumford & Sons suggested that their second album would be released in September. Going further, a DJ from Dutch station 3FM has claimed that the LP will be given the European release date of September 24th.
No official as yet, of course, although Mumford & Sons will be dropping by Scotland’s RockNess festival next month.
Returning to the UK at the end of May, the band have confirmed plans for the ‘Gentlemen of the Road Stopover…’ shows. “The Gentlemen of the Road Stopover is based loosely upon our favourite festivals like Colorado’s Telluride Bluegrass and Scotland’s Loopallu Festivals. We want to stop off in towns not usually heavily toured by bands, and celebrate the people, food and music that inhabit them” the group explained in a statement.
“We’re keen to promote the town’s local businesses, and we’ll be using the local bars and venues for aftershow parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular. There will be a host of our friends playing too, and the vibe falls somewhere between ‘travelling Victorian circus’ and ‘Victorian travelling circus’. It should be a whole lot of fun.”
Mumford & Sons have confirmed the following shows:

31 Folkestone Leas Cliff Pavilion
June
2 Huddersfield Gentlemen of the Road Stopover
4 Bury St Edmunds The Apex
