MRCY Release Debut Project ‘VOLUME 1’

An intoxicating array of soulful thrills...

Songwriting partnership MRCY have shared their debut project, ‘Volume 1’.

Out now, the project unites two formidable voices in British music. Producer Barney Lister has some top tier credits, while also developing a fantastic style of his own; vocalist Kojo Degraft-Johnson is an incredible talent, a stylist with a distinctive approach.

Together, they just seem to work. Introducing themselves with debut single ‘Lorelei’, the duo have incredible flair, and the sessions have seen new ideas flow effortless.

Set to play a sold-out headline show at London’s Lower Third on June 11th, MRCY have just dropped their debut project, and it’s a potent eight-tracker.

There’s a huge amount to absorb here, with MRCY also pointing fans to focus single ‘California’. Just right for these sunny Spring days, they comment:

“California’ is actually about London, but more specifically the night-and-day perception of somewhere beyond the surface. For the most part they might seem like decent places to live, but you’ll see struggle, hardship, poverty and mental warfare right alongside lives that are flourishing. ‘California’ is about feeling powerless to help even in a place that claims to be one of opportunity.”
