Mr. Mitch Announces New Album ‘The Lost Boy’

Electronic stalwart Mr. Mitch, real name Miles Mitchell, has detailed his new album, ‘The Lost Boy’, out via his own label Gobstopper on November 22nd.

‘The Lost Boy’ sees Miles return to his musical alias following a stream of EPs under the club-skewed alter ego DJ Cuddles. With the album announce, comes the tactile aural world of new single ‘Wow for Real’ – a tremulous, instrumental ambient piece that represents a shaking off the production cobwebs.

The new music follows pandemic collection ‘Lazy‘, which merged esoteric, pared-back symphonies with off-kilter permutations of dance music. Released in 2021, an era that was the London producer’s “most successful yet in terms of sales and streams,” ‘Lazy’ was co-signed by the likes of Thom Yorke and Cillian Murphy.

“Mr. Mitch albums have always been an honest reflection of my personal life,” Miles explains. “A loss of a life-enhancing day job coupled with a major slow down in demand for live shows caused me to question my identity; who am I without these roles that I have used to define myself?”

After a period of personal upheavals, two events in Miles’ life inspired a return to his creative roots; a spiritual experience in Nigeria, and the death of a foremost influence, his father.

He continues: “I travelled to Nigeria at the beginning of the year to celebrate a friend’s birthday but visits to the home of artist Demas Nwoko and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture were particularly inspiring. Walking through the grounds of the IITA listening to Portishead and the juxtaposition of the sonic and visual environments somehow brought me to tears. The second event was the passing of my father. A man who has been a great inspiration to me my whole life. Events happen that we may not be able to put into words but they change us nonetheless. His passing was the closing sentence to my chapter as ‘The Lost Boy.’
