Mount Kimbie Prepare Debut Album

'Crooks And Lovers' due

Dubstep duo Mount Kimbie are preparing to release their debut album ‘Crooks And Lovers’ on July 19th.

Dubstep is a broad church. With the wobble on the wane a host of inventive producers have leaped into the breach to release some strange new bass-heavy sounds.

Mount Kimbie are formed by Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, and have earned a strong reputation in dubstep circles. Yet the band’s music isn’t particularly post-garage, adding a techno sheen to half-step rhythms.

The duo perform live, refusing to do simple DJ sets. Mount Kimbie use loops and live instrumentation, with their sets being truly mind expanding affairs of sub bass and skittering dancehall rhythms.

A pair of seismic EPs were released earlier this year, with Mount Kimbie winning fans from beyond the dubstep world. ‘Maybes’ and ‘Sketch On Glass’ have been remixed by some strong names, winning approval from the upper echelons of the soundsystem scene.

Now the duo are preparing to release their debut album. Signed to Scuba’s revered imprint Hot Flush the full length effort will be released on July 19th.

Containing the own unique voice, Mount Kimbie’s production stills shows traces of the intense paranoia of The Bug alongside the delicate production of Burial. Add to this ambient, film score and even rock influences and the album begins to take on a character of its own.

In addition to their debut album Mount Kimbie have confirmed details of a series of UK tour dates. Set to perform at Stag And Dagger this weekend (May 21st) the duo will also play a number of headline shows alongside festival dates.

Mount Kimbie are set to play the following shows:

May
14 Brighton Great Escape
21 London Stag And Dagger
22 Leeds Nation Of Shopkeepers
28 London Plan B

June
4 Nottingham Wigflex
12 Newcastle Heavyweight
16 London Heaven
