Mott The Hoople : 40th Anniversary Shows

Rock n Rollers return to London

British Rock n Roll icons Mott The Hoople are set to return to the scene of their famous ‘Mott The Hoople Live’ album to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary by playing London’s Hammersmith Apollo on the 2nd and 3rd October (09) .

It’s now 40 years since ‘ The Hoople formed in 1969, when Ian Hunter joined Verden Allen, Dale Griffin,Overend Watts and Mick Ralphs to record their celebrated debut which would see the band go on to sell out (and trash) the Albert Hall and embark on a turbulent carrer that saw them fighting on stage and banned from venues. Their albums however saw them release some classic rock n roll cuts, such as ‘Roll Away The Stone’ and the aptly titled ‘Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, which led to David Bowie citing the band as one of his favorite acts, even penning the track ‘All The Young Dudes’ for the band. They split in 1974, however this year marks their 40th Anniversary which looks set to be a momentous occasion.
