Morrissey vs His Fans

T-shirt choice opens debate

Morrissey has appeared onstage wearing a t-shirt slating one of his own fan-sites.

Morrissey has some of the most devoted fans around. Ranging from The Smiths to his most recent output, some people will collect absolutely anything the Mancunian songwriter has put his name to.

Returning with a new tour, Morrissey decided to play some out of the way towns. A problem for average fans, but for followers of the indie bard time, distance and money proved to be secondary factors – what mattered was seeing Morrissey.

Split into two or three distinct camps, Morrissey fans congregate on different websites. With his new material provoking a distinctly cold reaction from ‘Morrissey-Solo.com’ the singer decided to take action into his own hands.

Appearing onstage in Bradford, the singer wore a black t-shirt emblazoned with ‘FUCK MORRISSEY-SOLO.COM’ while his band were dressed in a similar version.

The move has caused uproar in sections of Morrissey’s fan base, but the singer is unlikely to care. Much of the debate focuses on the artist’s backing band, who boast Boz Boorer (Morrissey cohort since 1991) and one time Smashing Pumpkins drummer Matt Walker in their number.
