Morrissey has stepped in to support a Tumblr page which matches Smiths lyrics against 'Peanuts' tattoos.

Morrissey isn't renowned for his ability to shrug off criticism or mockery. Demanding life on his own terms, the singer can often act extremely prickly against any perceived criticism.

A Tumblr page matching Smiths lyrics against images from famed 'Peanuts' strips, 'This Charming Charlie' swiftly became a viral hit. Sadly, Universal Music began issuing takedown orders against the site, alleging that it breached copyright.

Due to the popularity of the page, fans immediately began querying if Morrissey himself was involved. Thankfully, the minstrel of melancholy ruled himself out in a short statement on True To You last night (October 6th):

"Morrissey is delighted and flattered by the Peanuts comic strip with its use of Morrissey-Smiths lyrics, and he hopes that the strips remain."

It could seem that Morrissey's word is final - Pitchfork are reporting that Universal have ceased attempts to shutter the page.
