Morrissey Pairs With Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong On ‘Wedding Bell Blues’

Check it out now...

Morrissey has shared his recording of 'Wedding Bell Blues', featuring Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong.

The British artist is currently preparing his new album 'California Son', his first full covers project.

The record features a swathe of guests, with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong lending his vocals on 'Wedding Bell Blues'.

The song was originally written and performed by Laura Nyro in 1966, before becoming a huge smash for 5th Dimension in 1969.

Morrissey's version will gain a full physical release on May 10th, with the seven inch version featuring brand new song 'Brow Of My Beloved' on the flip – the artwork for the single features a still of Fabian Forte from 1964 film Ride The Wild Surf.

Sadly, the recording isn't a particularly fine moment for either artist – the arrangement is pedestrian, the production curiously stilted, almost dated, while Billie Joe Armstrong's vocals are so low down in the background they are scarcely worth mentioning.

Morrissey will release 'California Son' on May 24th.
