More Paul McCartney Album Details

Cover artwork unveiled

Paul McCartney has unveiled the cover artwork for his new album ‘Kisses On The Bottom’.

A reflection on the pre-rock ‘n’ roll songwriting which initially inspired his interest in music, Paul McCartney’s new album is an intriguing concept. Recorded in Capital Studios last year, the iconic artist recently revealed that the upcoming album will be named ‘Kisses On The Bottom’.

The title was confirmed after several days of speculation, and immediately led to debate over what it actually meant. Now it has been revealed that ‘Kisses On The Bottom’ is a quote from one of Fats Waller’s lyrics.

Album opener ‘I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter’ was originally written in 1935, and the first lines are: “I’m gonna sit right down and write myself a letter and make believe it came from you. I’m gonna write words oh so sweet. They’re gonna knock me off of my feet. A lot of kisses on the bottom, I’ll be glad I got ‘em’”.

Now the singer has unveiled the album artwork. Paul McCartney is shown in a tasteful black and white snap, with the photo credit belonging to his daughter Mary McCartney.

In addition to this, the artwork concept was conceived by Jonathan Schofield (Visual Director at Stella McCartney) and designed by Matthew Cooper (whose previous credits include Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand).
