Morcheeba Announce New Album ‘Escape The Chaos’

The release marks thirty years in the game for the iconic trip-hop group.

Morcheeba – that’s Skye and Ross Godfrey – will release their eleventh studio album, ‘Escape The Chaos’, on May 23rd via 100% Records.

Their new work follows 2021 album ‘Blackest Blue’, and is teased with the redemptive number ‘We Live And Die’, which chronicles the duo’s long, ambling journey on the frontier of progressive electronic music. The single will be released as their first ever 7” on Record Store Day on April 12th, to celebrate their thirty year anniversary.

Of the new single, Skye says: “For me, ‘We Live and Die’ is about my duration in the band and the music world and life in general. The lines become blurred after all this time. In a way, it’s a homage to the thirty years of being in Morcheeba which is 60% of my existence.

Family and kinship are core components of Morcheeba’s new era. At an early album session in Dublin, Ross and Skye were joined by her son Jaega on drums and husband Steve Gordon on bass, both mainstays of their live band. “It felt more like the old days of recording when we laid down those tracks,” says Ross. “We were actually in a room playing the songs together.

Adding to the family affair on the album is Ross’ wife, French singer Amanda Zamolo, who contributed lyrics and vocals. Other guest contributions include rapper Oscar #Worldpeace on the riveting ‘Peace of Me’, a timely plea to remedy the world’s obsession with conflict.
