Mogwai have posted a new track stripped from their soundtrack to French television show 'Les Revenants'.
Mogwai are no strangers to soundtrack work. The Scottish group's widescreen, atmospheric music has been half-inched by many a direction, with the band themselves even offering a score for acclaimed football documentary 'Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait'.
Now, though, Mogwai are planning to make the leap to the small screen. 'Les Revenants' is an atmospheric French drama, following a small mountain town in which locals become troubled after children who seemingly died in a bus crash appear to come back to life.
A haunting, engrossing drama, 'Les Revenants' – which translates as 'Ghosts' – has now received a new score. Gathered on an upcoming studio album, the band's work was seemingly sparked by a genuine love for the project.
“We were actually big fans of the director Fabrice Gobert’s film Simon Werner a disparu, which had a soundtrack by Sonic Youth,” Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite explained recently, “and we found the story for 'Les Revenants' incredibly interesting.”
