Modest Mouse For Bumbershoot

Seattle event names bill

American indie giants Modest Mouse are set to headline this year’s Seattle based festival Bumbershoot.

Found in 1970, the 39th annual music and arts event has grown to become one of the largest festivals in the North West. Seattle has long been regarded as a hub of free thinking and great music, stretching back to The Sonics and Jimi Hendrix and on to present acts such as Fleet Foxes.

Modest Mouse are now an American rock institution. Formed in 1993 the Seattle group have grown in stature until their 2007 album ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank’ soared straight into the Billboard charts at number one.

The group were joined on that album by one of their heroes. Former Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr is a part time member of the band, but it is thought that commitments with his other band The Cribs will prevent him playing at Bumbershoot.

Also due to appear on the bill are Mercury nominated duo Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan. Synth punks MSTRKRFT are also set to perform, alongside No Age, Holy Fuck and Gang Gang Dance.

Aside from Modest Mouse, other headliners for this summer’s event include fauz lesbit Katy Perry, heroes of the daisy age of hip hop De La Soul and rock warbler Katy Perry.

Bumbershoot is set to be held at the Seattle Center across twenty indoor and outdoor venues.

Bumbershoot takes place between September 5th – 7th.
