Mitski has shared two new songs, alongside some intimate UK acoustic shows.
The songwriter’s ‘The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We’ is out on September 15th, another chapter in her incredible catalogue. The previews are coming thick and fast, entrancing fans with her poetic flair and artful daring.
Two new songs have just gone online. ‘Star’ is rooted in a Scott Walker drone, a song of loss but also permanence. In contrast, ‘Heaven’ is a more classic-sounding effort, reminiscent of old Hollywood in its stately sweep. Amid the Pasty Cline-esque arrangement Mitski sings: “Now I bend like a willow thinking of you / Like a murmuring brook curving about you / As I sip on the rest of the coffee you left / A kiss left of you / Heaven, heaven, heaven…”
Alongside this, Mitski has shared plans for some intimate acoustic shows in the UK. Opening in Edinburgh’s historic Queens Hall on October 7th, it then hits Manchester’s Albert Hall, before finishing in London’s Union Chapel on October 11th.
Pre-sale begins on September 7th; full general sale opens on September 8th.
