Midland will release new EP ‘You Never Take Me Dancing’ on November 10th.
The incoming EP is the producer’s first release in four years, and represents another iteration of his creative evolution. Moving from fragmented aspects of bass culture through to something that skirts the edges of techno, Midland has built a unique catalogue, one that brims with fresh ideas.
New EP ‘You Never Take Me Dancing’ is a four-tracker, affording the studio guru space to explore hidden aspects of his sound. Ahead of this, Midland has shared new song ‘Drift Into The Algorithm’ and it sits stubbornly in its own lane – the chirruping electronics recall 80s machine funk, or even those old Depeche Mode 12 inches, while the chugging rhythm nods to various aspects of the Detroit school.
As ever, there’s a devout sense of invention with Midland’s work, with a twinkling melodic flavour using ‘Drift Into The Algorithm’ towards the heavens.
An absorbing return, you can check it out below.
