Mickey Pearce has been teasing the possibility of a debut artist album for some time.
Swamp81 boss Loefah began prodding the producer about a potential full length some four years ago, and has never quite given up hope.
Last summer, though, something seemed to change. Mickey Pearce began work on a new mixtape, but soon found himself drawn into rather more introverted climes.
This mood of introversion wouldn't quite disperse, and flooded into new material – and before he knew it, Mickey Pearce had completed his debut album.
'Michael' is forthcoming on Swamp81 (pre-order LINK), with Clash able to premiere the engrossing electronics of 'Polyester'.
Mary Anne Hobbs recently described the parent album as "a real shapeshifter" and that essence is definitely in place on 'Polyester'.
The rippling percussion is forever in motion, while the layers of sound – slow-moving, drifting – allow different moods to linger, and then move, without ever truly settling.
Check it out now.
