R.E.M. are never ever getting back together, according to frontman Michael Stipe.
The band confirmed their break up 10 years ago this month, yet relationships have always remained cordial.
Occasionally doing press together for catalogue re-issues, R.E.M. have looked after their legacy in a way other groups could take pointers from.
Yet fans also hanker after something new – perhaps some shows, perhaps some music… after all, if they remain friends, why not?
With R.E.M. sharing their 'Ten Years Onward' playlist to mark a decade since the announcement, Michael Stipe sat down with Alison Stewart for her show All Of It on WNYC.
Naturally the host asked Michael Stipe about the potential for a re-union, which the singer immediately and firmly shut down: "We will never reunite," he comments.
