After a huge amount of speculation the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has reported on the death of Michael Jackson – suggesting that it could have been homicide.
Michael Jackson’s death back in June took the world by surprise. Although he could not be considered a fitness fanatic, the singer’s energetic dance routines in preparing to his O2 Arena residency has suggested that he was in full health.
Collapsing at home in Los Angeles, suspicion immediately fell on his personal physician, Dr Conrad Murray. Rumours had suggested that Jackson was a heavy user of prescribed medication, with the performer ingesting a cocktail of drugs.
The case was referred to the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office, with drug testing taking some time to complete. However late last night the office reported back its findings – labelling the death “a homicide”.
In the report the coroner claims that the death was caused by lethal levels of the anesthetic propofol in his system, a drug that Michael Jackson had apparently used for some time in order to sleep.
The news will devastate Jackson’s fans, who have held impromptu ceremonies around the world to celebrate his life. MTV took to the streets shortly after the news, with one London fan Patrick Amara arguing that: “He had too many bad influences around him, and he was exploited constantly, so this news doesn’t surprise me,” he said.
“I had tickets to one of the This Is It shows in London, and now I don’t get to see him.”
Michael Jackson’s family have yet to respond to the news.
