Michael Jackson’s much talked about residency in the O2 Arena has been extended into 2010 to cope with extraordinary demand.
The singer announced the shows last week, originally stating he would only play ten nights. However, due to ferocious public demand this has been rapidly upgraded.
The pre-sale for his initial group of thirty shows sold out yesterday (March 11th) leading to seven more performances being announced for January.
Due to extreme demand many would be ticket buyers found themselves at the mercy of internet delays. At one point last week Michael Jackson’s official website was recording 10,000 hits per second.
Tickets for the dates are already reaching £10,000 on the internet auction site eBay.
British tabloid The Daily Mirror claims it has got hold of a leaked setlist, drawn up by the singer. It is rumoured he will kick off the first show on July 8th with his classic hit ‘Billie Jean’.
The shows are said to be Michael Jackson’s last in the UK. The singer has not mounted a full tour in over a decade.
